Born and raised in the Chicago, Illinois suburbs, Josh Slone is a Marine currently assigned to 1/7 Animal Company based out of MCAGCC 29 Palms, California. Home schooled his whole life he has an insatiable love for learning and mental challenges. His professional interests included web development, graphic design, computer hardware, and new software. On the side he enjoys shooting, fishing, camping, and other challenging activities.

Josh first got into web development back in 2005 when his dad got him his first book on HTML, Maran Graphics HTML In an Instant, from then on he was hooked on the wonders, intricacies, and challenges provided by the world wide web. He started out the old fashioned way using a basic text editor (Notepad) for all of his coding, and JASC Paint Shop Pro (now Corel Paint Shop Pro), and GIMP for his image editing needs. Since then the times, code, standards, software, and opportunities have changed and expanded. In 2007 he got his first taste of Linux in the flavor of SUSE 9.0 and was then introduced to the world of Open Source.
